The SW2 Enterprise Project will be one of the first to come forward as part of Future Brixton. We have been working closely with local people to decide how the council space can be opened up to the community, social enterprises and small businesses.
What people have told us is driving our discussions with potential developers and we hope to select a developer partner this summer. There will be more opportunities for people to get involved.
The SW2 Enterprise Centre area is largely, but not wholly, owned by the council and was identified in the Brixton Masterplan (2009) as a key regeneration opportunity. You can view the area in more detail as part of the proposals for the SW2 Enterprise Centre investment area, which is part of the draft Brixton SPD.
What is the vision?
We want to create a new centre around the town hall in Brixton that will save millions by dramatically reducing the amount of office space the council uses.
The new centre, provisionally called the SW2 Enterprise Centre, will include space for the council, the community, social enterprises and small businesses.
The town hall would be refurbished and continue to be used.
The development will pay for itself and will not cost Lambeth tax payers anything.
