New development along Brixton Station Road will create a livelier leisure and retail offer. Opening up the space between the railway tracks will bring opportunities for independent traders and creative industries. Environmental improvements, including to the station, will encourage visitors.
- Make the station more attractive and safer to use, including improving access to platforms, new lighting and, in the longer term, re-opening the entrance along Pope’s Road.
- Redevelopment of the temporary ice rink site to include shops and other commercial activity at ground floor level, public parking and new homes.
- Open up the arches through to the land between the railway arches to create new north/south routes and opportunities for indpendent traders and creative industries.
- Landscape improvements to priority streets and spaces including Pope’s Road, Electric Avenue and Atlantic Road.
- Develop proposals to put people before traffic in Atlantic Road to make it more attractive for people using the town centre.
