We’d like it to be young people like Shaqueele, Zethan and Miguel – apprentices helping to rebuild the area they grew up in at Myatt’s Field North. They feature in a short film that you can watch below.

We want to see as many apprentices as possible get their first break through Future Brixton and 45 apprenticeships are already planned as part of the Your New Town Hall development.

If you’re interested in a construction apprenticeship there will be a Construction Taster programme this summer, where four weeks of pre-employment training and work experience will see 15 new apprentices employed by Byrne Brothers. For more information email [email protected]

Somerleyton Road and Your New Town Hall next year and Your New Town Hall is estimating 800 workers will be needed over a four year construction period. We’re challenging developers to fill at least 20 per cent of their construction jobs with local residents.

This is already happening in Nine Elms to the north of the borough and Lambeth Working is helping residents interested in this type of work get ready for the 25,000 jobs expected over the next 10 years.
